ParticipantMy wife credit score of August 2012 is 692 and my score was 589. She got approve for Citibank simplicity card with 3300 credit limit. She added me to the card and it was a good look. Navy federal(my bank) approved me 500 credit limit for there rewards card.
Now this is something you have to understand, Capital One secured MasterCard approved me with 500 credit limit and I deposit $101.00. I requested for a card change(panda bear) and they send it a week later and it’s a new account with a $252 credit limit and I didn’t know.
So I cut up the first card with no hassatiation. Now I have 2 accounts with Capital One and didn’t request it but happy. As of October 2012 my credit score is 690 and I closed out two bad medical collections on my credit report of $244.

ParticipantHello Bigtye1deep, welcome to the forums.
Congratulations on your progress. It’s great to hear you were able to take care of your collections. Did you pay to get them deleted? Remember to always pay on time and never max out your cards to keep improving your scores.
Unfortunately Capital One’s secured card can’t be product changed to a different card. That’s why you have two different accounts now. They didn’t mention that to you? They should have. Their secured card also does not graduate. You can either keep your secured card for a little longer to establish more credit history, or close it at your convenience to get your deposit back.

ParticipantThank you! Yes I had to pay for deletion. As I know, capital one doesn’t give any info unless you ask or you’ll be left in the dark. It’s bad people find out there info through bad experience
Just as I have read about someone account got restricted because the info from their bank and making a deposit. They did that to me also to find out it was because I had two banks on the accounts. So I deleted the second bank account and they took off the restriction.

ParticipantYeah. My wife’s account got restricted when she made a deposit on her secured card to increase her limit. Fortunately after a 4 or 5 days it went away without her even calling. It’s weird because I had just made a deposit as well a week before and my account wasn’t restricted.
