I’m happy to report that after only two months of having this line of credit, my limit was automatically increased from $500 to $800. I didn’t request an increase but logged in to my account today and noticed my new credit limit.
I use PayPal a lot and have been using PayPal Smart Connect quit a bit and then paying in full so I can use it again. I guess they noticed I could use a bit more credit. I will ask for a credit line increase in two months, after my 4th statement, as some people have suggested this is a good time to ask for one.
I had originally applied for Paypal’s Mastercard but was approved for PayPal Smart Connect instead. Not what I originally wanted but so far so good…hopefully they can upgrade me to their Mastercard in the future (though I’m not sure if this is even possible).
August 4, 2012 at 12:43 am #2997That is awesome! I applied for that same card a few months back because I too use paypal a lot and it is offered by the same company as my other card which is in good standing with no missed payments. Unfortunately I was denied and didn’t even get the smart connect. I am glad it went well for you though and good luck in the next couple of months.
August 5, 2012 at 8:54 pm #2998Thanks Christie! I’m sorry to hear you were denied. I’m sure it’ll be easier for you once you take care of those collections you mentioned. It definitely helped me a lot, though it’s been years since I’ve been approved for anything!
December 6, 2012 at 9:48 pm #3003Requested a credit line increase today and was approved. They upped my limit by $500 for a total of $1300 (I actually requested $1500 but they offered $1300). This was done through their automated system, so it was easy and quick. I had requested increases twice before and was denied. I hear you can request credit limit every four months and it’s been four months since they increase my limit, so I’ll be requesting another one in April 2013. I will give you guys another update then.
December 11, 2012 at 12:51 am #3004Do they recheck your credit every time you request an increase?
December 11, 2012 at 2:05 am #3005No, they do a soft pull so any request for a limit increase doesn’t show up as an inquiry on your report. Pretty cool. Also, as I mentioned everything is done through their automated system so you don’t even have to speak to anybody.
December 11, 2012 at 5:44 am #3006Sounds cool! I’m pretty sure I will wait til after the holidays for that. I have been thinking about it, but i have been using a lot of my cards for Christmas shopping. My husband and I both have big families so it is hard to pay cash for gifts.
December 13, 2012 at 10:48 pm #3007Yeah, I hear you!
