ParticipantHey guys. Before I found this forum I had applied and was approved for a care credit card. It is a card you can use for medical emergencies or just regular procedures. You have to use it with doctors that accept it. i applied for it because I need some dental work done. I was very surprised when I was approved with only a score of 603. Well after some dental work being done I found a site to follow my credit. It is called creditkarma.com You only get to see one score, but it absolutely free. Since my dental procedure I have only made one payment. I paid 3x the minimum payment because that is all I could do at the time. I have another payment due next month and I plan to do the same and then the last payment I will make in full. Anyhow, since I made the first payment before it was due and 3x the minimum, credit karma says my score has improved +11 points. I was very excited about this and thought I would share.

ParticipantHi Christie0909,
The care credit card concept sounds very nice and useful. Credit Karma is a wonderful site. I also recommended it on another thread. Although it only shows a FAKO score based on TransUnion and not the actual FICO score that lenders look at, it does give you an idea of how your activity affects your score. For more sites to get free FAKO scores based on TransUnion and Experian, check out ambersun’s post here: http://www.newdirt.org/forums/topic.php?id=27. Those sites are similar to Credit Karma and are useful too.

ParticipantThanks. I actually went to free score.com and you can see all 3 of your scores. I am only going to use the free trial for now. I can’t remember which one right now, but the credit karma was the same as one of the other ones. My 3 scores vary way too much. They were 617 564 and 680. Is that normal?

ParticipantChristie yes that’s normal I don’t even know if anyone has ever had the same scores across the board -good scores keep up the good work! Yes Care Credit is very useful and they give nice credit limits -I signed my mom up for one last month -she needed some dental work and was approved for what she requested 3k!

ParticipantI only requested 1K and was approved. I was surprised, but now I am thankful. Thanks for all your help.

ParticipantHey guys! I have still been using my care credit and making my payments early and more than the minimum. Today I logged into credit karma and since I started using it my FAKO score has improved 25 points.
