10/29/11 (a saturday) Application made online – and deposit sent
10/31/11 received standard approved/deposit letter (dated 10/30)
11/12/11 email received: “Your new credit card was mailed yesterday, and you should receive it within 7 business days.”
November 12, 2011 at 11:56 pm #2642Welcome to the forums billocala and congrats on your new card.
If you don’t mind me asking, what credit line were you approved for with Capital One?
November 14, 2011 at 3:25 pm #2643Actually i don’t remember – but i sent in an additional deposit over and above the ($49?) they requested. Once I get the card I suppose will know the results and I will post what I find out.
November 17, 2011 at 9:56 pm #2644The card came today (pretty slowly actually). My credit isn’t horrible, just thin (mid 600′s), but I only got a $401 credit limit. Sending them $300 at first was a mistake. They screwed me a bit in the math. I can advise everyone now that you should initially only send the minimum amount the ask for. THEN send in additional money if you want a higher limit.
May 23, 2012 at 2:16 pm #2646I forgot to update – I got the somewhat automatic 6 month extra $100 additional credit line a few weeks ago.
I use the card as my primary daily expense card and I pay it pretty much off on the web site every few days.

May 25, 2012 at 1:46 pm #2648Congrats Bill! I remember getting the $100 credit line increase a while back as well. I was surprised to find out later that not everybody gets it. I think it has to do with how much you use your card. It was my only card back then so I used it frequently.
I have another card with cash rewards now and don’t use my Capital One anymore (just once every couple of months or so to keep it active). I haven’t received any other line increases since then, but I sent an extra deposit a few days ago. I want to show a couple of years of good payment history and a decent credit line for this card before I close it next year. I just don’t see the point of keeping it anymore.
