Fontanaman,
I hope that I am not too late in telling you this. I also have two unpaid medical bills on my credit report. They are the ONLY baddies I have. I have two other accounts and they are both positive and paid as agreed. My scores are in the 650’s but I still cannot get anyone to approve me. I was even denied for a secured card. Well I recently enrolled in a free trial with Identity Guard. They allow you to see all three of your scores and reports. They also help you dispute any items. Well I called today to cancel my membership. I figured I would start tracking my scores and report after I got the medical collections taken off. Well the lady I spoke with was very nice. She informed me that by law medical debt should not be placed on your credit report. The reason being is that when applying for anything (even jobs) sometimes your credit report is pulled. Well if someone sees your medical information they may deny you for that reason and that is a HIPAA violation. She told me to go the dispute websites and choose other reasons and in the box where you can add more details simply write “HIPAA violation.” She said going through the CRA’s is much easy. If you go through the actual creditor will be a pain because they will just say no; we won’t delete it. She told me within 10-30 days the medical collections should be removed. Hopefully this works. I just thought I would let you know, and maybe this can help you.
